Terms of Service

Rules for using Otter's expense-sharing app, including payment references, group records, user responsibilities, and service limitations.

Expense tracker, not a bank

Otter records expenses, balances, and settlement status. It does not move money.

Your references, your responsibility

Phone numbers and QR codes you add are your own. Verify payment details before sending money outside the app.

Fair use

Use Otter honestly. Don't misuse the app or interfere with other users.

What You Agree To

By using Otter, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

What Otter Does

Otter is an expense split tracker. It helps groups record shared expenses, calculate who owes whom, and track whether payments have been settled or not.

Otter does not send, receive, hold, or process any payments. All actual money transfers happen outside the app through whatever payment method users choose (GCash, Maya, bank transfer, cash, etc.).

Your Account

  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • You can use Otter offline without an account. Signing in enables sync and group collaboration.

Payment References

You may optionally add a mobile number or QR code screenshot as a payment reference so group members know where to pay you outside the app.

  • Only add payment details that belong to you or that you have permission to share.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of your payment references.
  • Marking a payment as "sent" or "received" in Otter is a user action — it does not prove a real transfer happened.
  • Always verify payment details independently before sending money.

Otter Coins

Otter Coins are in-app credits used to create synced groups. They are non-refundable and have no cash value.

Acceptable Use

  • Don't use Otter for fraud, harassment, or any illegal activity.
  • Don't upload misleading payment references or harmful content.
  • Don't attempt to interfere with the app's operation or access other users' data.

Suspension

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or create risk for other users. You can stop using Otter at any time.

Disclaimers

Otter is provided as-is. We do our best to keep it reliable, but we don't guarantee it will always be error-free.

We are not responsible for disputes between group members, incorrect payment references, or money sent to the wrong person outside the app.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dianoia Tech is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Otter. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD $100, whichever is greater.

Changes

We may update these terms. Significant changes will be communicated through the app with an updated effective date.
